1969 Adventurer
The Adventurer (7905) is ready for anything, as pictured on the figure box. This year's basic uniform featured a new white ribbed t-shirt, tan MP cut pants with two back pockets, tall brown boots and a brown shoulder holster and lebel pistol, along with a tan version of the basic fatigue cap. In practice, both black and white figures were often boxed wearing the same uniform and hat as the SOTW French Resistance Fighter. These French dressed figures seem to have been sold mainly at Sears.
The store stock boxed figure (below) shows a couple of substitutions. Here the figure wears short black boots and sports a black holster that would become standard issue with Adventure Team figures.

The box art images for the 1969 series are an interesting combination of photography of actual figures with bold, almost expressionistic background paintings.
This brochure for The Happy Hollisters books is one of the oddest pieces of paperwork to be found in a GI Joe box. Apparently Hasbro had a cross marketing agreement in 1968 and 1969, so book advertisements and even a doll advertisement can sometimes be found in boxes. See the 1967 Military Police page for another.
