Capture of the Pygmy Gorilla
Capture of the Pygmy Gorilla (7437) is another of several jungle themed sets in the line, this time with a great pontoon boat with working motor that was dropped in favor of a non-working version in 1973. The pontoon boat made an appearance in the late issue Sears exclusive set Trapped in Coils of Doom, and appears without the pontoons in the Sears Super Adventure set. The size of the gorilla has always been a mystery, possibly the result of Hasbro sourcing this part of the set from a pre-existing rubber toy.

Musician, artist, and bon-vivant G.B. Hettrick shares these samples of variation in the gorilla. From left to right, the earliest Hasbro version with painted tongue and pupils, an intermediate example lacking the pupil paint and tongue paint, and the last issue unpainted version. Note also the difference in their stance and how the legs are joined. The lower images shows relative sizes.
Overstock of the accessories for the set were later released in bags with a header card under the "Backyard Patrol" label. The later issue unpainted gorilla, non-working motor, and polyester uniform are found in these bags.
